On Seamus Heaney (new episode) – Human Voices Wake Us
The Irish historian and biographer R. F. Foster has published a wonderful and brief book, On Seamus Heaney, and tonight I read my favorite passages from it, spanning Heaney’s career and his poetry on history, violence, family, and mythology. Nearly all of them are excerpts from Heaney’s letters, essays, and lectures, which otherwise might be hard to find.
